Established in 1816 through an act of the New York State Legislature, Oswego County occupies 968 square miles of land on the southeastern shore of Lake Ontario. Oswego County is comprised of the cities of Oswego and Fulton, 10 villages, and 22 towns. The County Legislature includes 25 districts; each legislator represents approximately 5,000 citizens. The county is located in the 23rd Congressional District; the 48th District of the New York State Senate; and in the 115th, 122nd, 124th, and 128th Districts of the New York State Assembly.

Pulaski, New York
An original seat of Oswego County government was in Pulaski. In addition to the Barclay Court House in Pulaski, there is also a Court House in City of Oswego.
Oswego County was established in 1816. Through the year 1852 the two county seats were maintained; it has been Oswego exclusively since that time, however the two court houses are both functional today.
